No. It was a plugin that we no longer need or use.

I did a fresh install and when I tried login it told me my credentials where incorrect. So I went MyPHPAdmin and changed the login info only to get the same error in FireFox & Opera GX. I than tried the Lost Password and it gave me: ā€˜Error: Your password reset link appears to be invalid. Please request a new link below.ā€™

Has anyone else had issues logging in after fresh install?

this post is about the account on the site directory.classicpress.net - but there was a bug affecting some browsers with the pass reset link (namely firefox and firefox based ones) where you had what you describe happening.
the fix:

  • open the reset link email
  • copy the link as is
  • open a new tab in the same browser
  • paste the link and click enter

The bug sometimes presents itself again, itā€™s browser related and not CP related. Browsers know of this also. Itā€™s something to do with them stripping out from the link when simply clicked.

Youā€™re suggest worked in Opera GX, but not Fire Fox. Thank you for the tip on trying it in a new Tab. I didnā€™t think of that myself.

It also fails in Zen Browser which is Fire Fox based.

Firefox dev edition here - Firefox is a bit of a black sheep about thatā€¦. I hate to admit that I also found trace in their forums of several similar situations over time with various ā€œpassword reset linksā€ issues. itā€™s one of those things that lingers, sometimes it seems solved and sometimes comes back with a vengeance. However when it occurred to me with CP the community here was very supportive in identifying why it was happening and we came up with the copy link and paste in same tab or use another browser entirely.

Is there an issue with Opera? Iā€™m currently locked out of my new server. The rest link is not recognised. Not to mention that non of my passwords are recognised. Iā€™ve not tried other browsers.

@Venutius read above, when having issues with reset links do as follows:

  • open the email
  • COPY the reset link
  • open a new tab on the same browser
  • paste link and click enter

itā€™s an issue related with several browsers - I do not use Opera, but since you report it happening there it is also related to it.
Itā€™s something that gets occasionally fixed in browsers but reappears from time to time.

the reason it happens is probably the browser stripping something (namely a session cookie I think) from the link when simply clicking it from inside the email.

I use opera and it does have a problem occasionally of not refreshing correctly, and will appear to lock you out. Deleting cache gets it going again.

I think I messed up, forgetting that I had wf 2FA switched on. Iā€™ve reinstalled now, and am writing a CP plugin to perform pre-flight deprecated functions checks, etc.

I also now have a database of 1400 wp plugins that have been scanned for depricated jQuery calls, and a list of about 200 that failed. Iā€™ve created a look-up plugin that allows that database to be queried, and am putting together a webpage to suggest how those issues can be fixed.

That page however, currently, will be on an entirely innapropriate website - BuddyPress User. That site, Iā€™ve decided, is going to transform, into ClassicPress User. I have just secured the domain - classicuser.com, and will start building that out with hints and tips regarding how to get the best out of CP.
