That’s a great idea for a website. :+1:

Hi All,

I think a Showcase page could be super useful…

Perhaps we put together something like Discourse did at:

A few scripts could easily be built on the backend to do “checkups” and remove sites that no longer exist over time, and even acquire a thumbnail of the site.

Sites could be categorized by topic, and potentially in the “long term” there could be “sponsorship” opportunities giving a few sites a bit extra exposure (featured sites) with the proceeds going towards the non-profit expenses…

But in the short to mid-term it’d offer the ability for people to get their site featured. In return we could also that they provide a “link back” to ClassicPress.net or the directory (a validation script could also be implemented for this too if desired).

Love this idea!! So much better than this big long thread. It would make it much easier for people to showcase their sites. Additionally, it would show people what can be done with ClassicPress, encouraging others to use the platform.

A link back isn’t always feasible though, as some clients prefer not to have links in their footer.

Well the point of linking back is to help promote ClassicPress in the same way the directory would be showcasing the site using it. Though, remember this is just an idea at this point. My post was not intended to be the blueprints of such an idea just giving an opinion on how the feature could be rolled out and beneficial to all parties in both the short and long term.
