No worries! It’s a huge head start, thank you. Good work!

No worries. I looked at quite a few but the WP ones seemed the best fit for us.

One thing I found ambiguous… Do you interpret the guidelines to mean that everyone needs to seek approval, or only those that don’t meet the stated criteria?

At first it says “Permission from ClassicPress is required to use the ClassicPress name or logo as part of any project, product, service, domain name, or company name”, but then it says “We will grant permission… etc”.

It might be worth tidying that up to make it clearer.

That’s a good question, and, knowing WP and the stable of attorneys they have access to, I suspect it was worded that way for a reason and not just an oversight.

Perhaps…
If someone doesn’t ask permission and then uses the mark in a way that they think meets the criteria, but it doesn’t, this gives WP an out to say, “Well, you never asked us.”
?

Maybe? I’m not an attorney, so I couldn’t say for sure.

Yes, this sounds like a very likely explanation. That would stop them being inundated with approval requests, but still give them the option to get heavy if necessary.

We could go with that approach too.
