CafePress

on the welcome email, there is a merch link to a page that no longer exists and it looks like that store took down its range of CP merch.

This seems to be an archived version: ClassicPress : Official ClassicPress Swag Shop

Maybe it could be relaunched using FourthWall? Thats a drop-shipping service which is available around the world, and offers pretty reliable services. A lot of streamers use it for their own merch (including myself).

cu, w0lf.

Yes, that free tier would give a cost-free easy option.

If I recall correctly that swag shop was managed by two community members who later on decided to abandon the project. I don’t know if it ever sold some items (at the time financial management was really something muddy and unclear - as opposed to now that everything is tracked and accounted for).
I think it would be totally possible to reopen a swag store - my question is: would it bring results? opening shop (even on free tier) / selling is not “let me put it there - people will come” it’s more like “let me put it there and nag to the end of time about it and do promotion - and people will come”. If we open it to really have results it means someone has to MANAGE IT FOR REAL like a real shop… So basically I would avoid doing so if there is no interest in promoting it seriously. It’s easier putting another link in there (for example the open collective one) than revamp something that did not work in the first place.

I agree. I was thinking about it myself and I think that it would be a distraction, at this stage, without any indication of demand.

I ran an etsy shop for my band and it was really, just for the band to have our own t-shirts. we did sell a few, but there was no profit there.
