Classic SEO (Import Rank Math data?)

Was concerned we would have to give up a core plugin we use - Rank Math SEO. Then I found Classic SEO. Yay!

Really impressed with Classic SEO so far. I’m so glad you have this plugin for CP, so please keep it going. Please and thank you.

It must be a fork of Rank Math SEO, as it looks familiar.

But I did not see Rank Math as an available option in the import settings. I do have a couple of sites we spent a lot of time on with Rank Math. So if we could import at least some of the data, via Classic SEO, that would be fantastic. Otherwise we could go through and do it manually if necessary.

I don’t use either. (I mainly work on intranets and membership sites where SEO is not important.) But I wonder whether you could look in the databases for each plugin and compare field names. Or you could look at each one’s code.

I’m guessing that they will be exactly the same except for a prefix. If so, after first backing things up, you could use a plugin like Better Search Replace to rename all the relevant fields and voila!

You could explore the W3P SEO in the WordPress repo. It’s compatible with CP, and it has a manual Yoast + Rank Math migrator. Manual, keep in mind.

I can confirm that Classic SEO plugin does indeed import Rank Math SEO data. I just migrated another site over to CP, and the Classic SEO recognized the Rank Math data.

So, the importer only displays the data from the plugin that was originally installed in WP. As we didn’t have Rank Math on the previous WP site, that’s why it didn’t show up in the importer.

The CP Classic SEO is a very good plugin. I’m impressed so far.

I just installed and it showed import from Rankmath, All in one SEO and Yoast. I had previously had Rankmath and Yoast installed.

As an experiment I tried importing for All in One SEO (which I don’t think was ever installed, and as expected nothing was imported (but no message to say so)

I could import from rank math even though the plugin tables no longer existed in the database so presumably the settings had hung around but probably only it was just the postmeta which I think was is stored in wp postmeta tables not the Rankmath tables.

Once I clicked on clean in the Rankmath importer then the old Rankmath entry was gone from the database. As you might expect
