ClassicBuddyPress

BuddyPress was the first plugin developed for WP. ClassicPress without CalssicBuddyPress is like Stalio without Olio.

If any developers want to fork BuddyPress, they’re welcome to do so.

BuddyPress is a very odd plugin. It completely hijacks the site instead of doing things “the WordPress way”. These days it’s really intended primarily for wordpress.org.

It’s actually pretty easy to build a forum on CP/WP using regular posts, categories, and comments (and a CPT, if desired). I wouldn’t recommend anyone fork BuddyPress for CP.

BuddyPress does everything the automatic way. A BuddyPress fork just isn’t appropriate for ClassicPress for a myriad of reasons that I won’t go into here, otherwise someone would have already forked the crap (I’ve tried, it’s hell). Please see my forum post on CP community, I’m working on a community plugin that’s more suitable. In addition, it is time that ClassicPress got its own solutions and can thus establish itself as a real alternative to WordPress in the next few years
