Hi all ! I love ClassicPress as it uses 4.9.x and based on Classic Editor and simple core functionality. I love the Community but the lack is WordPress App. There is many one using App for some uses. So, there should be App for more progression and it’s continuous development should be taken place. Involve in growing Community and help build solid foundation upto Enterprise level Web Package. Support my petition of Making ClassicPress app like WP. Thanks !

+1, the ability to add a new post/pages, edit typo and reply to comment is one of the features I’ll love to see when the app development is considered, At least using the Wp App is really faster than using the main dashboard, so this is a big plus.

Currently the WordPress mobile apps do not work very well with ClassicPress. Most features of the apps require Jetpack to be installed, and Jetpack is no longer compatible with WordPress 4.9 and therefore not with ClassicPress either.
This proposal is a good candidate for our ClassicPress-research organization on GitHub . This is a dedicated space to work on larger projects and get them ready for wider visibility in the community.
If you are an app developer and you’d like to put something up on GitHub under the ClassicPress-research
name, let me know (via private message on our Slack or forums) and I’ll create a repository for it. ClassicPress-research/app-android
and/or ClassicPress-research/app-ios
is one idea for the name.

That is a great idea, and also “necessary” in my opinion as the enforced “Jetpack” requirement is a big big no-go anyways in the greater WP community!
If such an app would be developed it should be considered making this app also compatible with WordPress. If the app would be based on the REST API it should be doable, I guess?
This would bring a huge benefit, not only for ClassicPress - of course - but also for the greater community, as this group of users who do not want Jetpack dependency for WP Apps and WooCommerce App is growing each and everyday. All then could use this new app and would get aware of its makers, ClassicPress.
The app should also have a somewhat “small” price to better pay the development - and optional In-App-Purchases for tips should be considered to fund maintenance.

I agree with the small price feature and or In-App-Purchase for development of the app and ClassicPress as a hole.
but Rather than using Rest API wich is know to be a hog of resources - a custom lean API could be introduced starting with simple Post and Get functions for createing editing and retreiving posts / pages and approving comments.
Another Idea is to create a SDK for an app for develeopers to create their own app for the project they are working on

Hi all, I think having an app is a great idea. Another idea to consider is the integration of being able to have your website or sites be a PWA (Progressive Web App) into the core. For instance, kind of like how SuperPWA does it.

@Sean King: I think PWA features would be best discussed in a separate petition. Depending on what specifically is desired, this could be done by the theme or as a plugin at first.

An app is too big of a project at this time. Unless there is someone willing to do the work, the petition will be closed. It can be re-opened in the future if resources permit.
