Lime Green Menu Bar?

HI,
Not sure what this is about. Could you please get rid of the “lime-green” menu bar in the forums, or at least change it to a less obtrusive color? Maybe an offset of grey or black?

It’s a little much and annoying tbh. Please and thank you.

LOL
It would be nice if it could be integrated into the existing ‘menu bar’

@tpnsolutions I think the lime green should be replaced by one of the following colors: #3ebca6, #057f99, or #006b81.

@timkaye,

I used the same color as the notice about 2.3.1 on the ClassicPress website. I’ll review your suggestions and make the adjustment later.

Yes, I know where you got it from. But it’s for an alert on that site, not the background color for menu items. It’s jarring on Discourse because it’s being used for a different purpose.

There are other problems with that top menu:

  1. It’s impossible to use the Tab key to access any of the items on the menu there. That makes it impossible to use for anyone unable to use a mouse.
  2. All the hyperlinks have been given a title attribute. These need to be removed in every case because they generate useless noise for people using screenreaders.

@timkaye Exactly.

@EliteStarServices Yes, that would be much better.

@Web242 @EliteStarServices @timkaye,

The menu bar is gone. No more improvements planned for the immediate future.

@tpnsolutions Thank you!

Regarding the main site, you could probably get rid of the lime-green there as well. This does not appear to be a color associated with ClassicPress branding, nor suits the site either.

Color and branding is important as code. I know when we build sites for clients, we have to stick to branding guidelines or ask if we can use a different color when needed. Color and design considerations are important.

Primary Aqua – #057f99
Deep Violet – #361946
Mid Violet – #89288f

@Web242,

The lime green on the main website is @timkaye’s domain. He manages that theme, I just borrowed the color thinking it would keep things looking more uniform at the time.

That’s a fair point! But have you actually tried those colors?

The first is the same as the regular menu, so doesn’t serve the alert function. The other two are intended for accents, not whole menu bars: one makes the site look like it’s for funerals, and the third makes it look sunburnt.

So I’m happy to change the lime green, but the color palette gives no guidance for this area because it was created before it was decided that we should add an alert at the top of the home page. So I’m open to better suggestions!

@timkaye Yeah, that’s true. The color palette is from Michelle’s original branding. Let me look at this and come back with some suggestions.

Just be nice to avoid the fluorescent-neon type of color scheme.

As a start, how about something like these?

(The top-bar background is the same grey as the info-boxes below - not white)

I like the bottom left one!

Thanx! It just needs a little more padding in the button.

Do you need the colours for these, or all good?

Should be good!

@Web242 @timkaye,

Definitely looks cleaner, and actually the notice are now stands out as a notice much better to be honest.

@timkaye,

The fix on the “Get ClassicPress” page also looks good.
