Welcome!

We’re glad to see an official report of someone using ClassicPress on IIS - we don’t have stats on this yet.

So far there hasn’t been much of a maintenance burden required to support IIS, but we have come across related code and specifically decided not to make any changes (details). So, this is definitely an area where we could use help testing in the future if you’re up for it.

Hi James, and thank you! It just feels so right to be a part of ClassicPress.
Sorry for late reply. I would be more than happy to help out with testing on the IIS platform. I am thinking of installing a test environment on our VMware solution.

I can also help out with any language related work in the Norwegian version of ClassicPress, if you should need it. As a former journalist and editor, I am quite capable in the Norwegian language. :slight_smile:

Hi, its a few years later. How would you say your experience has been on IIS?

@troyporter,

ClassicPress is best experienced on a Linux server, though I suppose technically any OS that can reliably run a web server, support PHP and MariaDB or MySQL should work fine.

Personally I wouldn’t recommend a Windows Server or technology for ClassicPress though, I’m also not a fan of Windows Server or their IIS web server.

IIS is designed with Microsoft technologies in mind, and running PHP on IIS actually gives you degraded performance in my own experience.

@Frank419 I hear you and though what youre saying might be true, I think it really depends on the use case. If youre not running an enterprise website or app with millions of users you may never notice this degradation.

I have been running my website it on IIS for over a decade and its totally fine. I have need for a blog now so I’m hoping ClassicPress can work for me. I am hoping @Jonso can weigh in with a good account.
