I currently have a ClassicPress website running on PHP 7.4. I want to switch to the ClassicPress Theme, which requires PHP 8.0 or higher. However, my hosting provider, Vodien, has informed me that ClassicPress won’t work on versions higher than PHP 7.4.
Is Vodien wrong, or am I stuck with PHP 7.4
Thanks in advance, John
They are wrong. My CP installs are all PHP 8 and above.
Thank you for your help.
They clearly are wrong.
ALL my ClassicPress installations run on 8 (most on 8.1, some on 8.2).
Your hosting company might not update their data about CMSes etc. on a regular (regular as in: at least once a month). So they still think ClassicPress 1.x is the current version, which was forked from WordPress 4.9, which does have (some) issues with PHP 8+.
But CP 2.x has been out since Februar of this year, and the alpha / beta test version even was released more than a year ago (July 2023 I think).

Thank you for your reply. I was on their chat help for over an hour. They altered my PHP to PHP8.2 after they realized that I was using ClassicPress instead of WordPress. I am so happy.
