WP Super Cache 1.8+ tests / CP compatiblity

Out of some reason, the latest WP Super Cache version that still “works” is only at 1.7.9, while the current version in the WP Repo is already at v1.9. So I went through the changes of 1.8 compared to 1.7.9 - and only found … a few string and spacing differences??

But to make sure I didnt miss anything, I’ve also tested it thoroughly with my personal CP testing installation, running CP 1.4.3, and could not find anything not working as expected.

To get things done, one simply has to change the WP version requirement inside the readme.txt to “4.9”, install the plugin manually, and everything works like it did before.

Gonna do the same now with v1.9 and report results back here.

As expected, no changes from 1.8 to 1.9 at all. Caching works flawlessly.

The “fix” is literally changing the “Requires at least:” line from Requires at least: 5.9 to Requires at least: 4.9

Conclusion: Somebody at Automattic just doesnt like WP < 5.9 (and CP) shrugs
