WP Super Cache fork?

A few days ago, @fwolf told he was wondering if he could/should fork WP Super Cache, Automattic’s dead simple cache plugin.

I say: yes, please! WPSC is straightforward and just works, but is plagued with Jetpack upselling crap. A clean version would be very welcomed.

Absolutely no need. You can use WP Fastest Cache which works just fine with ClassicPress.

Plus, WP Fastest Cache uses Apache’s mod_rewrite instead of PHP, so processes caching much faster.

Maybe not needed, @Web242, but I still believe there’s a gap that a really FOSS WP Super Cache could fill in. WP Fastest Cache is fine, but has a paying tier. That’s the main difference between them, and why I think a WP Super Cache fork would be valuable (not to mention that currently it doesn’t work on CP for no logical reason).

Maybe change its name to something related to ClassicPress and make it a “core plugin kit” (ClassicPack) as suggested by @fwolf as well…?

Pondering on what to call this fork - just “Classic Super Cache”? Like to get rid of the acronym, as it would still work perfectly well with WP, too? Although: “CP” could also stand for “ClassicPack”

cu, w0lf.

What about “Super Cache”? Simpler, understandable, and universal.
